Day of Free Classes on Jan. 16 in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Join Garth Fagan Dance for a day of free classes in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on January 16th, 2012.  The workshops will be held at our 50 Chestnut St. studios in downtown Rochester, at the corner of Lawn and Chestnut Streets.  Parking is free on all streets and at the East End Garage on the corner of East Ave. and Scio St.  To register , visit us at www.garthfagandance.org or call (585)454-3260.  It is recommended you register prior to the day of classes as space is limited and classes will close when full. 

The schedule of classes is as follows:

10:00 – 11:00 AM  Youth, 5-7 yrs
11:30 – 12:45 PM  Youth, 8-12 yrs
11:30 – 1:00 PM  Beginning Adult, 13 yrs +
1:15 – 2:45 PM  Intermediate Adult, 13 yrs +
3:00 – 4:15 PM  Over 30 Adult Class

Garth Fagan Dance joins Dr. Cornel West and Joshua Bennett at RIT to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on January 23

Garth Fagan Dance will perform on January 23, 2012, as part of the Rochester Institute of Technology’s “Expression of King’s Legacy” – a celebration of the life and accomplishments of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  The performance will be on the RIT campus and will also feature a keynote address from Dr. Cornel West as well as a reading by poet Joshua Bennett.  This event is free and open to the public, however, pre-registration is required .  Doors open at 11:00 AM; the event runs from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.

Celebrate Valentine's Day with "An Evening of Duets," February 11

Garth Fagan Dance will host its annual Valentine’s Day celebration, “An Evening of Duets,” on February 11, 2012, at 7pm in the 3rd floor Studio Theatre at 50 Chestnut St.    Discover the beauty and passion of the Company’s most famous duets, with narration provided by Garth Fagan.  The evening will include the Company performance as well as a formal dinner, dessert, champagne toast and valet parking.  Tickets are $125 per person.  This popular event sells out every year, so be sure to purchase your tickets today!

Garth Fagan Dance School Winter Semester begins January 17

Start the New Year off right by stretching your mind and body in a Garth Fagan Dance School class!  Classes are available for all skill levels, ages 3 through adult.  All classes are based in the Fagan technique, a unique blend of modern dance, Afro-Caribbean dance, and ballet.  The current semester begins January 17 and runs until April 7.  Register today to reserve your spot!  **Class payments are now accepted online.**
